Start by making your glass or mirror lie flat and clean thoroughly with any glass cleaner.

When completely dry, cut a piece of contact paper slightly larger than the stencil and apply to the glass in the desired location by peeling off the backing paper.

    3
Place the stencil on the paper and tape in place to secure.

Trace inside the stencil hole with an ink pen onto the contact paper and remove the stencil.

Use an Exacto knife to follow drawn lines and cut out only those sections of the contact paper and carefully remove by peeling off of the glass.

You should now have an exact duplicate of the stencil but one which is attached to the glass. Follow the directions on the Etching Solution which basically consist of: Apply to exposed areas of glass you wish etched, wait the allotted time and rinse off.

Peel off the remaining contact paper and you're done.

How to Make a Stained Glass Mirror

This article will teach you the correct and easy way to create your unique stained glass mirror! No matter what it is or how big it is, it will be fun and easy!

Steps

  1. Make a Stained Glass Mirror Step 1.png
    1
Choose a mirror size you'd like to use. It cannot have a frame on it but if it does, be sure to cover the frame with large tape.
  2. Make a Stained Glass Mirror Step 2.png
    2
Choose a layout. Layouts can be purchased at Michaels or any other art store. This layout can be anything and any size. Do not worry about the size because the size will be adjusting it later. You will also need the paint colors that the package says the layout needs.

After you have chosen a layout, if the layout you were given was either too big or too small, you can adjust it by using a photo copier or a scanner. You may need to print it out several times or not at all (depends).

Once you have gotten the layout and the paint, you are ready to start. If your mirror is big enough, split the layout in 4 pieces. Do the same with your layout sheet. Slowly paint your art in the same format as the layout piece.

Wait 1 full day or just overnight for your lead paint to dry. The next day or some other day, you can add the color paint.

The next day, you can add the colors into the spots that the layout tells you to or make it completely your own style.

Wait for it to dry 1 full day or night. Then you've got your Stained Glass mirror.
